Life insurance after a stroke

in Life Insurance

I’m 35 and recently had a stroke, doctors are unsure why yet. I was in the hospital for 3 days and went back to work immediately, and almost no one can tell that it happened. I am now on maintenance medication for blood pressure due to family history. At what point should I begin applying for life insurance to get the best possible rate?

You are now very limited to what all coverage you can get. You have had a stroke and no longer can get the normal kind of Life Insurance. I wished you had bought coverage before this had happen. Over 50% of people after having a stroke will be dead in 5 years.

You can still get graded death benefit products and a few limited products.

You can’t wreck a car and then buy car insurance. Same thing with life insurance. You can’t wait until you have had a stroke and then try to buy normal life insurance.

You now have a pre existing condition….

Talk to a local agents about what options you have left.

35 years old is very young to have a stroke.

You’ll likely need two things: 1) a thorough review by an agent and 2) some type of non-med insurance.

The reason you’re not getting any succinct answers is because you have a complex case that’s going to require some back and forth with an agent.

I agree with everything Mark Rosenthal said. After a stroke,
you are no longer like a typical normal individual when applying for life insurance. There is one carrier that allows $5000 of full immediate whole life coverage 90 days after the stroke, but this at a costly rate for what is a small “burial” policy. One year after the stroke, you can get $25,000 of graded benefit life insurance that pays out 100% after 2 years. For a quote call Robert Gersten, CLU at 617-795-1932.
